Getting Started


System Requirements

  • A Windows or Mac computer with an Intel i5 or equivalent, or better.
  • 4 Gb RAM or more.
  • Hard drive with at least 100 Gb free space. An SSD drive is highly recommended.
  • Windows 7 or later, or MacOS Yosemite or later.
  • Current version of SketchUp Pro. (Purchase from Trimble)
  • Supported graphics cards are listed here. Graphics cards need to support OpenGL 3.0 or later.
  • Broadband Internet access.
  • Although it may work, we do not support MAKE installed on virtual machines.

Installing SketchUp

When you're ready to install SketchUp Pro go to their download page and download an install the version for your operating system. The first time you start SketchUp be sure to select the appropriate default template for new drawings. We recommend selecting one of the two 'Woodworking' templates, inches or millimeters. You can change this later on if needed.


Installing Skooter MAKE on Windows

Download the Skooter MAKE rbz file we send you. Install the MAKE extension by following the instructions below for your operating system.

In Windows: After starting SketchUp, from the Window _menu select Preferences to open the Preferences dialog, then choose the Extensions tab and click on Install Extension_. Choose the MAKE rbz file you downloaded and install the extension. An End User License Agreement dialog will be presented.

After installing the MAKE extension you need to put in your license information, which you should have received from Skooter to the email address you provided when you signed up. In SketchUp go to the Extensions menu, then select Skooter Make > License to display The MAKE: License dialog. Enter your license information along with the Username and Password you used to create your license account. You're ready to go!

MAKE has automatic updates that will prompt you to download and install new versions as they become available.


Installing Skooter MAKE on MacOS

The SketchUp 2017 extension installation process is different from 2016. After starting SketchUp 2017, go to the Window menu and select Extension Manager and then click on Install Extension in the lower right corner of the dialog. Choose the MAKE rbz file you downloaded and install the extension. An End User License Agreement dialog will be presented.

For SketchUp 2016, after starting SketchUp go to the SketchUp menu and select Preferences to open the Preferences dialog. Select the Extensions tab and click on Install Extension. Choose the MAKE rbz file you downloaded and install the extension. An End User License Agreement dialog will be presented.
